Trade shows offer a multitude of benefits for companies of all sizes. Not only do they provide a practical way to display your products/services, but they’re also excellent for meeting new clients. But most companies find choosing and designing exhibition stand themes that suit their brand and won’t break their budget.

In this post, we’re going to discuss how to choose a theme for your exhibition display and reveal four of our favourite designs.

Choosing a Theme

A great theme can help your exhibition stand attract attention. Trade shows are competitive, but if you can draw people to your stand with an eye-catching display, they’re more likely to want to find out more about you.

There are so many themes to choose from, but you should stick to one that relates to your company. For example, a space theme might be dramatic enough to make your display stand out, but people will question why you picked the design if you’re a manufacturing company.

So, how do you pick a suitable theme? Ask yourself these questions.

Who are we?

What products do you sell, or which services do you provide? Who is your target audience? Let’s take a company that sells children’s educational products. Their stand could have a colourful theme that incorporates large children’s building blocks and primary colours.

That kind of theme would speak to people and stays in line with the company’s brand identity.

Are we promoting our company or a specific product/service?

It’s essential to think about the purpose of your exhibition stand. In some cases, you might want to increase brand awareness and let people know what your company does. But at the same time, you might have a new product that you’d like to promote.

Promoting your company means your theme should stay on point with your overall mission statement and identity. For example, a business that sells organic food could focus on a rustic theme that combines greens and browns.

Companies that want to promote a specific product or service can get a bit creative. Let’s look at Samsung as an example. The electrical company are best known for their mobile phones but sell TVs and other products.

Samsung’s most popular phone is The Galaxy, which is the iPhone’s main competitor. If the tech giant were primarily advertising their new mobile phone, they could incorporate a space theme. But if they wanted to promote the company as a whole, the space theme wouldn’t fit.

When you know what you want to achieve with your theme, you can create an exhibition that works for your needs.

Do we support any causes?

When a brand takes social responsibility, it improves its public image and generates higher customer loyalty levels. According to the Global Web Index (GWI), 68% of consumers wouldn’t use a brand if they felt it had a poor sense of corporate social responsibility.

If you want to demonstrate your responsibility at an event, you can incorporate the organisation or cause you to support in your exhibition stand.

Ensure you have the consent of any charities you donate to and sponsor before you create your stand, and be prepared to answer questions about the cause.

How much space do we have available?

Space is a significant factor in the design of your exhibition stand. The last thing you want to do is create an elaborate design, spend money on materials then realise it won’t fit into your allocated space.

Make sure you know how much space you have available and get the area measurements if possible.

How much is our budget?

Large companies often hire specialist designers to create an eye-catching exhibition display, but smaller businesses might want to reduce their costs.

Instead of spending a lot of money on professional designs, you can focus on finding modular display walls in various colours to match your brand.

Most exhibition stand suppliers will help you match your brand identity and customise the panels to suit your requirements.

The Best Exhibition Themes You Can Learn Something From

Perhaps the best way to understand how to create an exhibition theme that works for your company is to take inspiration from others.

Each of the following themes serves a distinct purpose and shows us how creative thinking can make a significant impact.

Total’s Sustainable Project

Totals ‘It’s in your Hands’ exhibition focuses on promoting sustainability, and the result is an eye-catching display that would be impossible to ignore. The company used a dark background and dramatic blue lighting to depict the earth.

As you can see from this photograph taken at the exhibition, the display was stunning and impossible for event attendees to ignore.

Stoller Europe Meeting Room

Stoller Europe needed an exciting exhibition stand design for the 2017 Fruit Attraction in Madrid, Spain. The company focused on a colourful background but added practicality to the display by incorporating a meeting table.

Trade shows are the perfect place for companies to network, create new partnerships and find clients. The simple act of adding the table made a welcoming environment for attendees to sit down and talk with the company.

E.C Carpets Small Exhibition Stand

E.C Carpets needed to promote their company but only had a small space to do it. Using a floor to ceiling carpet effect, they maximised the space available to them and created a colourful display that was hard to ignore.

Freestanding pillars make it easier for attendees to navigate around the display and access the information they contain. Overall, this design is fantastic because it shows that you can still steal the show even with a small space.

Intel’s Wonderwall

We couldn’t leave out this digital masterpiece from Intel. Their ‘wonderwall’ was a 100-million pixel LED screen that displayed presentations and images. People could also use motion sensors, which created effects through each show.

There’s no doubt that Intel’s display must have cost a lot of money – but it was too good to leave out.
